Fire News ; Mother, child hit by van death


The joy of a family holiday in seven states ends with heartbreaking tragedy when two of them died in an accident on Highway Tun Dr . Lim Chong Eu Bayan Mutiara near here today.

In the accident at about 3:30 pm, the family boarded a Proton Wira from Sungai Petani , Kedah was hit by a van skidded workers from the opposite direction .

Bus rammed the victim , Saodah Hashim , 48 , and his son , Afif Mohd Nazirul . , 11 , were killed while five others were injured.

It is understood that during the incident , a van plant in the opposite direction towards Bayan Lepas before skidded out of control and crashed into the car driven by Saodah brother , Mohd . Paradise, 24 .

Following the crash , the Nazirul Afif said to be thrown out while others are trapped in their flooded vehicles .

It is understood that seven family came from Beach Merdeka , Kedah come back to this country after the school holidays.

Mohd . Firdaus and two children Saodah , Mohd . Khairul Nizar, 22 , and Sazafiza , 16, and van driver Muhd factory . Nurfaidhi Alias, 25 , was seriously injured while Saodah mother , Salmah Hashim , 64 , and another son Saodah , Mohd Naufal , 4 , seriously hurt.

Senior Fire Officer II , Fire Station Jalan Perak , Mohd Kamaruzi . Nor said they received a call about the accident at about 3.40pm and rushed to the scene .

" Upon arrival , we found the body of a male child on the road near the vehicle involved in the accident and initial investigations revealed that the child was thrown out of the car she was traveling .

"Force firefighters had to take about 20 minutes to remove all the trapped victims in a vehicle collision .

" The victims have been removed and taken to the Penang Hospital for further treatment, " he told reporters when met at the scene .

Meanwhile, the deputy head of the Northeast Police Supt Ismail Idris , when contacted, confirmed the incident and told the inquiry under Section 41 ( 1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 will be conducted in relation to the crash .
