Fire News : Volunteer firefighters are covered

KUALA TERENGGANU – Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department ( JBPM ) to streamline and strengthen the role of the voluntary fire brigade in dealing with incidents of fire, especially in rural and remote areas of the trunk from the fire station .
Director General of Fire and Rescue Department ( JBPM ) , Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said so far there were 322 voluntary fire brigades with a total membership of 12,500 across the country .
The member of this team is always ready to perform the duties at any time needed.
" They play as a team early assistance or ' first responder ' especially in remote areas and away from nearby fire station before the JBPM team arrived at the scene .
" We also have to recognize the ' response time' voluntary fire brigades as ' response time' JBPM . They also can do the job for deletion and so we have to give them enough training to provide assistance, " he said.
He was speaking at the Convention Volunteer Fire Zone in the eastern and southern Islamic Civilization Park Convention Hall ( TTI ) .
Earlier, in his opening remarks , he said , at this time JBPM financial assistance amounting to RM3 , 000 to each team to help them manage the programs and activities of the association as well as the maintenance vehicle was supplied by the department.
In addition, each member of the rescue brigade also benefit insurance with premium payments of RM10 per month that the government fully funded .
He said , with the coverage, each member will benefit, including the protection of natural death of RM22, 000 , while the coverage of death and total and permanent disability as a set percentage accident is RM44 , 000, the cost of hospitalization and injuries due to accidents.
He said Urban Wellbeing Ministry , Housing and Local Government has high hopes to JBPM in order to civilize the people of this country together fire prevention to ensure their well-being , prevent losses and loss of life.
" Public awareness should be increased. Every year we lose hundreds of dollars and dozens of deaths from fire . It is hoped that through the programs and activities organized such as fire safety campaign , firefighters with community programs , seminars, fire safety, fire lectures in educational institutes from pre- school to university level .
" In addition to the establishment of the Fire Safety Team ( PKK ) in government and private buildings , the establishment of the cadet team and so will benefit the whole of society , " he said.
Moreover, JBPM has also implemented a service to help people afflicted with the establishment of the One Stop ( One Stop Center) in every fire station in the country.
He said the program was based on humanitarian services include management adjustments for victims of post- emergency help when applying for retrieving important documents were destroyed in a fire such as identification cards , passports , marriage certificate and fire reporting .
" It was held in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP ) , National Registration Department (NRD ) , Social Welfare Department ( SWD ) , religious departments and other related agencies . Implementation is expected to help ease the burden of emergency ordeals and provide services more efficiently and exceed the expectations of society , " he said.
