Fire News :Landslides, thousands trapped

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 January - Thousands of road users on the way home from work through Mahameru Road here had to go through severe traffic congestion as far as about five miles on the occurrence of landslides in the area this afternoon.
The incident is the second time landslide bluff about 12 meters with the first occurring on May 8 last year.
In the latest incident at about 5.15 pm , the traffic congestion along the path traced from Putra World Trade Centre ( PWTC ) towards the Houses of Parliament and Palace Road .
This is due to the landslide blocking traffic , causing Mahameru Road had to be closed and the user had to be diverted to Jalan Parliament for cleaning before opening selorong and as usual 7.20pm .
The incident did not involve damage to the vehicle or the victim involved .
Director of Fire and Rescue Department Kuala Lumpur , Khirudin Drahman said Kuala Lumpur City Hall workers (DBKL ) earlier arrived at the site have control of the situation and opened up a lane for the movement of vehicles .
He said the department received an emergency call from the public at 5:23 pm before the 13 members of the Fire and Rescue Station Sentul and Sri Hartamas with two pieces of machinery to the site soon to help in the event of mishap .
" Landslide occurrence from roadside cliff may occur due to factors constant rain for about an hour .
" The land area is estimated lane road about 100 square meters and cleaning work is being done , " he said when contacted here .
Two pathways involved with the event open to the passage of vehicles starting at 10:15 tonight.
